Review: Shea Moisture’s Bamboo Charcoal Line

My skin has been pretty interesting lately. The wishy-washy Houston weather has me popping up with a pimple one week then dealing with dry, flaky skin the next. Why me Lordt?!?

On my quest for a better skincare routine, I got blessed with Shea Moisture’s Bamboo Charcoal line which I tested out for a couple weeks. I figured it’d be wise to share my thoughts with you.

I’ll make things quick and share the pros and cons. The overall message I’d like to convey is that this is definitely a line worth checking out especially considering charcoal’s popularity right now…

Pros: The cleanser leaves my face feeling clean but not stripped of moisture. I’m oily in my t-zone but have dry skin on my forehead. The foam cleanser does a great job in both areas. The body scrub is gentle and safe for everyday use. It’s the perfect way to have smooth skin on the regular.

Cons: The smell of the cleanser and body scrub kinda reminds me of crayons or something. It’s not a fresh scent so it may bother some. Luckily you only smell it while you’re using it and the scent doesn’t linger. Also, it’s a bit difficult to squeeze the scrub out of the container but I think it gets easier as time goes by.

One last point I’d like to share isn’t necessarily a pro or con. Please note that the moisturizer in this line isn’t a cream, it’s a gel. It’s definitely different than anything I’ve tried and it doesn’t work for my dry skin areas. It’s perfectly fine on other parts of my face though. If you have dry skin or the weather is super cold, this may not be the best option. I can’t wait to use it again when it gets a little warmer outside.

That’s pretty much it. I told you I was going to make it quick, didn’t I?

Are you as big of a Shea Moisture fan as I am and have you tried any of these products yet? If so, what are your thoughts?
