Life Update & HerGivenHair Product Review

I’m a blogger who doesn’t blog much. It’s a shame, I know. Consistency is something I’m working on and instead of promising more frequent posts, I’ll just let my actions speak louder than my words. Plus, I don’t wanna break a written promise, lol.

Moving on let’s talk about life really quick. I’ve really been in a slump. I can’t pinpoint one specific reason why but I have numerous projects going on at once and have been struggling to focus. I’ve had a recent burst of inspiration so I’m planning to capitalize on it and work my butt off. Please keep me in your prayers because I’ve got so much to do.

I also want to discuss the fact that my website needs an update because the photos on it are a couple years old. I feel like I’m catfishing my readers because my hair hasn’t been that straight in ages. Luckily, a lovely blogger/friend of mine (go say hello to her at www.twentyishthirty.com) was kind enough to capture a few photos of me last week so I figured I’d share the images and use this as an opportunity to not only show you what I’m looking like these days but also talk about my experience with HerGivenHair extensions.

Check out a few photos of me rocking my HerGivenHair and let me know what you think in the comments section below:

I’m wearing the Kinky Blow Out Hair Weave in 12 & 14 inches and my hairstylist  made it into a u-part wig so that I’d be able to wear it when I wanted all while being able to moisturize my natural hair underneath as needed. I’m honestly loving the flexibility but feel weird taking off a wig and putting it on a styrofoam head at night. Maybe that’s something I’ll get used to later on in life.

Pros: This hair is gorgeous and it blends with my type 4 hair perfectly. I can’t tell where the weave begins, I can’t tell where my hair ends (in my India Arie voice). The texture is perfection and there’s minimal shedding which is great because no one wants hair all over the place. Also, you can apply heat to this hair and it holds a curl pretty well. I put wand curls in it and they stayed intact for over a week (while stored on the styrofoam head).

Cons: If you use two full bundles or more, it will be BIG hair. If you’re not prepared for full Diana Ross diva-like glamour, I suggest cutting your wefts and using a bundle and a half. I think I’m going to deconstruct my wig, wash my extensions and make a new u-part with less hair so that I won’t make such a statement when I walk in the room. This isn’t really a con if you’re someone who likes big, voluminous hair.

If you’re planning to get a protective style or simply want to experiment with natural looking hair extensions, I totally recommend HerGivenHair.  Feel free to check out their website by clicking here and subscribe to their YouTube channel for awesome content. You may see me on there every now and then… 🙂
